60 Girls’ Gymnastics Under the direction of new coach Lynn Wilds, the girls’ gymnastics team achieved an unprecedented season. This year’s only loss was to Hampshire Regional by a margin of .05. The 18-member squad, consisting largely of underclassmen, was chosen from a field of 22 candidates. In the contest against Minnechaug, the team broke the school record for total points in a single meet. Consistent performances by soph Lori Tranghese and frosh Anne-Marie Harrington gave strong support to the team throughout the year. In addition, five girls qualified for the State Individual Meet. Anne-Marie Harrington placed second in all-around competition in Western Mass.

62 Bowling After a challenging year, the CHS candle pin bowling team placed second in both rounds of inter-city competition. Although Father Daniel O’Hear coach, stressed the team unit, there were a handful of phenomenal individuals. Dan Mahue, a freshman, bowled a 130, one of three high strings within the league. Bill Witaszek, a 99.8-average bowler, and David Payne, outstanding player, contributed their talents to the pinsters. The Cathedral bowling squad completed the year with a 6-2 record and another second place in total pins. wy = 1 Concentration marks the stance of Danny Mahue. 2 Eyes on the pins, Joe Thomas pre- pares to release the ball. 3 Follow-through requires effort, as shown by Mike Stasiowski. 4 Frosh Joe Wagner watches the ball careful- ly, hoping for a strike.
