Superstar Under the direction of Fr. Richard Riendeau, many seniors participated in this year’s production of the rock opera ‘‘Superstar”’. Each Sunday for a month anda half, preceeding opening night on Palm Sunday the cast met, for many arduous hours, striving to achieve a polished performance. The cast presented their version of the opera on Monday, March 24th for the school and on each successive evening of Holy Week for the public. Backed by a company of a hundred, portraying crowds, apostles, priests, soldiers and attendants, seniors John Carleton, Patti Driscoll, Ray Borbeau, Joe Kuzdzol, Russ Croteau and Fred Dimouro held major roles. Respectively, they played Jesus, Mary Magdalene Pontius Pilate, Herod, anda priest. The reverent attitude Surrounding the performance added greatly to the audiences’ appreciation.

1 Pilate passionately denies his responsibi- lity for the crucifixtion of Christ. 2 The stage is set, the background is laid for Judas’ even- tual betrayal of Christ. 3 Jesus Christ Super- star! 4 ‘‘Hosanna!”’ proclaims the crowd in adoration of Christ as Caiaphas looks on in disapproval. 5 The court jester mocks the divinity of Christ. 6 The three high priests plan to curtail Christ’s activities. 7 The fate of Christ rests in the hands of Judas Iscariot and his cohorts as they debate his fee.
