One club open to students outside of CHS was the Radio Club. It offered members the opportunity to receive their ham operator’s license, but only after instruction in theory, code, and procedures of the hobby. Responsible for lighting and audio effects in the auditorium, the Lighting Crew, under Sheila Mathews’ and Tim Lynch's management worked many functions, including Drama and Minstrel. Also involved in plays and the Minstrel, the Stage Crew designed and stabilized required props. This club organized students backstage during the Minstrel, and made sure well planned performances were in order. Hosting the WMass District Music Festival this year, Mr. Dante Pilegi’s Band also attended football games and provided the Christmas show, offering inspiration and enjoyment in both cases. Horse lovers rode weekly at Mountainview Stables, having learned correct saddling, walking, and riding techniques from previous instruction periods. The Riding Club also held Annual Fun Night, which was a type of horse show for the equestrians’ parents. 107
