Clubs In an effort to sharpen their chess playing abilities, the chessmen met every Tuesday for practice. Chess Club members competed in aleague with city schools. The equestrians worked towards the improvement of their riding skills and learned the care and anatomy of horses. Riding Club activities included riding once a week and attending horse shows and horse auctions. Seniors Tom Nolan and Dave Moriarty headed the Radio Club as co-presidents this year. With many new freshman members. the club continued its radio communication activities. Under the new architecture program, building designs and house plans were drawn up by members of the T-Square Club. Participation in Practical Arts Night was the final goal for the club’s many projects. Artists dabbled in unexplored areas of art which were not covered during regular class. Performing various services for the school, the Art Service Club advertised major athletic and academic events. Members of the Staging and Lighting crew were responsible for the lighting and sound systems in the auditorium. They proved an asset in all school productions, including the Minstrel Show.

Clubs Once a month a Recycling Day was held at Cathedral. People were encouraged to bring any glass on hand. Students sorted and crushed the glass, and sent it to anearby recycling center. Photography Club members were instructed in photo processing by a representative from Valley Cinema. Monthly meetings provided time for students to display and discuss their projects. The topics Consumerism, and the American Indian interested members of Insight. Students researched individually, and meetings were highlighted by discussions, guest speakers, and films. Each week, five youngsters from the Children’s Study Home were taught CCD at Cathedral. Two students presented each child a short lesson, and worked with the child af Bice oo a « Pape et oe A on an assigned activity. On Thursday afternoons, members of the Spanish Club visited children at the Spanish Apostolate Center. The girls presented mini-classes to the children in the areas of cooking, sewing, arts and crafts, and dancing. Solving problems on the State Prize Math Exam and the Cambridge Exam became the task of the 50 membered Math Club each week. A squad of 5 mathletes competed with area schools in various math meets. 109
