Track Our 1973 Track Team was marked by numerous outstanding individual performances. Ted McCarthy set a school record in the 880 with a 1:59.6 during the WM Championships. Backed by a complete team effort, the team went on to win their 12th Consecutive City Championship. Worthy of special mention were Lou Gatti, Bernie Bouvier, Joe Dauplaise, Mark Ianello, Tom Wolff, Jim Williams, John Coville and Tom Rothfus. Despite losing only two meets the Panthers did not have what was considered a good year, placing fifth in Western Mass. The 5 year winning streak of 37 dual meets was abruptly ended by underdog West Side, as CHS lost by only one point. “After two Western Mass. Championships, this was definitely an off year.” Paul Whitlock
