Boys’ Gymnastics Led by coach Harrison Ostrander and captain Rich Mauer the Cathe- dral boys’ gymnastic team prog- ressed from a sixty-five point to an eighty point average per meet during the season. The events included side horse, longhorse vaulting, high bar, parallel bars, and still rings. Each individual event was based on a score from 0-10 with each piece of equip- ment having its own particular re- quirements. Despite being seniorless, the team ended the year in fifth place in Western Mass. Two individuals, Greg Payne and Rich Mauer, went on to achieve fourth and fifth positions respectively as individuals in West- ern Mass.
