Girls’ Gymnastics An increased interest in girls’ gymnastics was reflected by the fact that approximately 70 girls tried out for the team. Coaches Lynn and Steve Sager made it known at the first meeting that to make the team you would have to have a willi ngness to work. This willingness to work was the most important factor in determining the team’s success. Once the team was chosen, girls began long hours of repeated practice. Each piece of equipment necessitated a different type of exercise. The work was not in vain as four girls qualified to compete in the State Individual’s Meet. Beth Mineo and Lori Trangheses qualified as all-around girls. Chris Greenia qualified for the vault and Lisa Condren qualified for the beam. The whole team participated in the W Mass. Championship on February 22. “These girls were hard-working and they displayed the best team spirit ’ve ever seen.” Lynn Sager front row: Co-Captains Beth Mineo and Mary Conway. second row: Chris Greenia, Cece Smith, Michelle LaMarche, Anita Draghetti. third row: Noreen Szubelek, Pat Noonan, Anne Kennedy, Colleen Shea, Mary Stanton. fourth row: Lynn Sager, Mary Jean Dromey, Ro- seanne Trimboli, Kathryn Ryan, Lori Tranghese, Lisa Condron.
