Football Rookie coach Jack Michalak’s crew struggled through a winless season. The young mentor brought a new group of assistants with him, as Rich Discenza, Jim Woodward, and Tom Whiston helped coach. Key injuries struck the Panthers. Players on the casualty list included halfback Pat Healy, the two-way standout, and Roland Brooks, who was ailing for most of the fall, with a leg injury. Along with the disabilities, inexperience was a major problem, as most of the squad were underclassmen. Lack of size was a decisive factor. wae ee 2 = + if ns i, ae: ee Contributing their best 2 = during the season were; =I RES le BGs tose i Blaise Stevens, Tim Duquette, = Jim Myers, and Chris Kiser, . pees reenneraerenee who was selected as the MVP Ss atied sain 5 eee oS Se od for the Westfield game in the annual Thanksgiving day battle. All things considered, the season was both a get-acquainted and a rebuilding year for Michalak and the gridmen.
