Why are you an educator? Sr. Theresa Derouin: ‘‘A nation’s wealth is its people.” As an educator and a religious, I am investing all that I possess in the future of America as I develop myself and my pupils in a variety of learning experiences: for God and for Country! Sr. Richard Francis: I enjoy and appreciate the challenge of helping the youth of today to be the leaders of tomorrow. Mrs. Barbara Garvey: ... with the hope that I can encourage change and improvement of one world through educated, committed persons. Ms. Rosalie Genest: I am an educator because it is something that Bobby Riggs can’t do bet- ter. Sr. Margaret Goulet: ... Because I was led by the Lord to the Sisters of Saint Joseph, a religious community truly dedicated to the education of youth. Sr. Barbara Gumpright: To prepare the students for a good future, both spiritually and intellectually. Why are you an educator? Sr. Marita Joseph: To help my students and me to fully develop our God-given abilities in an atmosphere of joy. Sr. Mary Lou Lacey: To teach the Story with the Great Happy Ending Mr. David Laux: I chose to become an educator so that I could share experience, as well as my ideals with my students. Mr. Roger E. Lavallee: I felt that I had the ability, and wished to spend some time transmitting knowledge before using it to my own ends. Sr. Catherine Leary: Because I love worki ng with people and sharing with them the joy of dis- covering themselves and the world. Sr. Mari- lyn Logan: I am a religious educator primarily to assist others in their search for truth and knowledge. This search for truth and knowl- edge is carried out in many areas, the area of self-knowledge, the area of the living world, and most important in the area of the love and knowledge of God as He manifests himself in His Son, Jesus Christ. Sr. Ann Lynch: Iam an educator because I thrill at the privilege of sharing in the work of the Divine Educator in leading others to wonder. Sr. Mary Lynch: Education awakens faith — in God, in people, in democracy. Sr. Mary Lyons: I enjoy bring- ing the best out in people. I believe that good teaching causes students to do this to them- selves in the learning process. Sr. Mildred Marengo: to grow, to share, to be — to help others in their growing, sharing and being.
