@®eeeeese @e@eeeeee® See @, i © e 4 Why are you an educator? Sr. Alice Kenney: I feel I have something to share. My educational experience was such a pleasant one, I would like to afford the same opportunity to those with whom I work ... Sr. Patricia Feeley: I want: to be part of the Church’s mission to teach; and to help young people develop their potential to become real Christians and better citizens. Mr. Richard Askin: I am an educator because I honestly feel that I could not be as happy as I am now doing anything else, other than teaching. Miss Jean Bagurskas: I am an educator because I feel there is a reason and a purpose to educa- tion. It lies not so much in the learning of facts and figures but that through these things we come to an awareness of self. The role of the educator is, then, to help the student find himself through the experience of learning and by so doing enable him to be able to experience life in its fullest sense. Mr. Daniel Balicki: So that my gains and losses might rub off until actual experience for them occurs! Mr. Rich- ard Barry: To stimulate and participate in the growth of someone else is intriguing. To watch that growth take place is exciting. I gain much from my students, hopefully they gain as much or more from me. Mr. Jean Beauregard: In short: Not to teach everything I know about a given subject but to also learn from stu- dents. To try to instill in each individual a concept of self worth. What better place to continue your learning process than a classroom?? To help students find themselves and become a free person in society. Sr. Rose Carmel Wallace: With Robert Frost “I am not so much an educator as an awakener’”’ Con- vinced as I am that no one can be truly free until he is educated — awakened — I have dedicated to my life to life’s highest role: bringing truth that sets minds free. Christ commissioned his apostles “‘to go forth and teach’. He told all of us to learn of him. With all of the vocations on earth at his disposal, He was ever the teacher. Humility I seek to follow and to bring His light in freedom-giving truth, to others. 115
