Veteran gymnasts lead teammates in close competition Cathedral High men s gymnastic team captured sixth place in Western Mass competition after a season of hard work. The loss of Angelo Scuderi and Norman Boulrice from last year s team left much of the scoring power to returning veterans Steve Bertelli and Mike O Connor, and tri-captains Paul Caron, Mike Fioretti and Rick Gunn, all gold medal candidates. The South Hadley meet caused a tense moment for the Panthers as the performance of Mike Fioretti on the rings brought the CHS gymnasts to a narrow win of 78.8-78.2. Plagued with close scores such as the 77.5-77.2 loss against West Side, the team, coached by Harrison Ostrander, was left with a 3-3 record in league competition.
