D iversified club activities spark enthusiastic response An interesting vear saw Cathedralites actively enrolled in extracurricular programs. By raising funds to finance their calendar of events, Red Cross members committed themselves to improve conditions of those not so fortunate. In the Sewing Club girls found an opportunity to make use of available sewing machines, and in doing so developed versatility in sewing, while creating a variety of fashion stvles. Chessmen vied with stiff competition this year, as the CHS Chess Team entered the Pioneer Valley Chess League. The team finished with a winning season as they clashed with surrounding schools. In preparation for Practical Arts Night, the T-Square Club organized their design engineers for diversified exhibits which were presented in May.

Language clubs stress involvement Striving to become more involved in community life, the Spanish and French Clubs increased their various activities. After school, members of the Spanish Club worked at the Spanish Apostolate every week. Each Tuesday, a group of members prepared a lesson in cooking and sewing, along with arts and crafts, for the children at the center. This provided members with an opportunity to become more actively involved in life outside school. The French Club, which met every month, emphasized self improvement 3 through the study of culture and civilization, not often explored in depth in the classroom. 1 Enchantment. 2 Carol Gaudreau takes second place to the photographer. 3 An interested viewer watches as Kathy Allen demonstrates how to make a puppet. 4 Watching carefully as Denise Bissonnette weaves a placemat, her young friend gets a few pointers.
