NHS relief project benefits children Under the leadership of Debbie Carleton, its first woman president, the National Honor Society provided an opportunity for the entire student body to show their will to be involved. The Society collected non-prescription medicine, clothing and blankets for Vietnamese children and the underprivileged in Appalachia. The students responded in the true spirit of giving and many packages were sent. The smooth running of many school functions including College Night and Freshman Orientation was made possible by the cooperation of NHS members. Underclassmen were invited to the Society s induction ceremonies to provide an introduction for prospective members. 1 Leadership rings in the voice of Mary Lou Darsigny. 2 Preparing banners for induction required patience as exemplified by Lorna Clement. 3 Two year members of the Honor Society reflect qualities of character, scholar- ship, leadership and service. 4 Integrity of an NHS member is mirrored on the face of Don Cameron

Practical Arts Night inspires interest Skills aquired through the school year were exhibited by the students on Practical Arts Night. Cooking classes featured an informative display of table settings and a colorful array of foods. The decorative cakes were given to lucky visitors in a special drawing. ‘Fashion for the Seasons was the theme for the fashion show in which each girl modeled her own creation. Exhibits from the mechanical drawing department included a wide range of designs, constructions, and models, with the theme “Form Follows Function.” The radio club gave instructions in the operation of ham radios and made several contacts. Elements of good photography techniques were presented through a panorama of pictures taken by Photography club members. 1 At the derhonstration table, Tom Korman ex- plains his machine to visitors. 2 Prettily parad- ing across the stage, model Terry Doolan dis- plays her sharp creation. 3 Persistance and hardwork have produced these tasty appetizers 4 Demonstrating their radio complex, Joe Franz and Tim Nolan send a coded message
