Driver Education program regains success at Cathedral The driver education program reinstated at Cathedral 4 in the 71-'72 school year has, during its two years, found its place in the CHS curriculum. rhe program, under the direction of Mr. William Thomas, is offered during school time to all eligible CHS students on their study periods, and has proven itself successful to those seeking their license. Mechanical Drawing catches interest Again, as in past years, the Industrial Arts course has demonstrated that it is both an increasingly practical and interesting area of study. The enrollment is at capacity with 225 students participating. The two year Graphic-Arts Course consisting of Basic Tech and Engineering Drawing proves invaluable to individuals planning a career related to art, fashion design, or interior decorating. The three-year Engineering course is specifically geared to give students amore thorough knowledge and to better prepare them for fields of study in advanced-level engineering and drawing. The three-year program includes Mechanical One and Two and Fundamentals of Engineering. The highlight of the year was the Arts Festival, held during the second week in May. This event provided an excellent diversion from usual class work and gave students an opportunity to express some of their more unusual talents. 1 Pausing from his drawing junior Keith Woods builds castles in the air. 2 Taking time out to inspect his work, Sean Doyle gives it a nod of approval. 3 Deeply involved in his work, Sean Abad carefully marks his place with his T- square. 4 All mechanical drawing skills come down to these basic tools of the trade. 49
