Skiers enjoy frustrating season? a e%a® fege ts Pi ok ee Be ae Both boys’ and girls’ ski teams suffered few losses this season, but this accomplishment has to be at least partly credited to the phenomenal lack of snow. The few matches that were raced showed great promise for the young team. Leading the boys’ team this season was Bob Goltz, who established a record low of 28.6, seconds in a race against Longmeadow high. The girls’ ski team increased in size and ability with the addition of nine new members. Constant PA announcements concerning the fate of scheduled meets focused attention on the teams’ plight. Boys’ ski team: Bill Nolan, Joe Sarkis, Bob Dillon, Dave Bloniarz, Bob Goltz, Bob Budri, Bill Ferriter, Charles Goldrick, Chris Tuomey. 65

The relay team came within a second of breaking the school record. Other leaders of the strong contingent of runners Cathedral boasted were Carlos Falcon and Pete Wallace. They were balanced by Joe Hickson and Ken Demers, who set the pace in field events. In the state meet Bourie clocked a 9:42 two-mile, 1 Z breaking his own record by 10 seconds.
