Girl gymnasts snatch Western Mass championship Led by co-captains Cindy Scuderi and Connie Smith, and four-year member Shari Bordeau, the girls’ gymnastic team struggled through one of the toughest schedules in the state to a 6-1 seasonal record. The team’s depth on the uneven bars was one reason for its success. Their fine overall record gave them second place in their league, he Ba ea Sm and enabled them to compete in Western Mass and state meets. In Western Mass competition they had trouble with Minnechaug, to whom they had lost in regular season competition, but they still placed first. Boys’ gymnastic 54 Although their season opened on the sour note of the loss of co-captain Angelo Scuderi for much of the year due to illness, the boys’ gymnastic team finished with a 9-1 season record and the Western Mass Conference league championship. In February four team members were invited to participate at Boston State College.
