Skiers demonstrate The CHS ski team enjoyed their most productive season this year, finishing with their best record. Led by co-captains Gary Goltz and Kevin Kavanagh, the skiers were set back in their first two meets against Westfield and Westside. Hard work and practice every weekend at Blanford Ski Area proved rewarding as they went on to capture their next five meets, Slalom races were held at Mt. Tom, in which eight members from each team competed. Decisions were gained by adding the four best times of the members of each team, and comparing them, with the lowest time winning. Helping the skiers cut seconds off their time were faculty adviser Fr. Matthew O’Connor and Coach Lucier. Cathedral amassed 91 points, ending Tech’s six-year reign as Champs. In regular season play, the grapplers set three new individual school records. MVP Mike Robinson finished with a record of 15-1. John Shea pinned an opponent in a quick 18 seconds, and co-captain Ed Gallagher compiled ten pins for the year.
