useful, creative skills Home ec students receive practical experience in cooking classes taught by Sr. M. Virginia. The course deals with nutrition, table setting, and all aspects of homemaking. Instruction in sewing includes textiles, interior decorating, and grooming. Sr. Patricia Smith’s classes planned a fashion show as part of Fine Arts Night. Both sections held open house before scheduling to enable interested girls to make informed decisions for the coming year. 1 Freshman girls learn course requirements while seeing practical advantages of the cooking department at the home ec open house. 2 After choosing her pattern and material, Pat Cawley becomes familiar with machine stitching. 3 Following pattern instructions, Michelle Marotte proceeds to pin darts. 4 Home ec students Margaret O’Sullivan, Carol Doyle, and Jean Borland work with Sr. Patricia Smith at basic operations of cutting, stitching, and pressing. 25
