Front row: John Goodwin, Glenn igenza, Dan Desplaines, Robert Morin, Michael Davis, John Nay; back row: Benny Giancola, Bob ecowicz, Neil Garvey, Marco Gutwaks, Bob Andrews, Brian Burke. 3 Seniors Rich Agin, John etreault, Steve Bodolay, and Elaine Footit weigh the Vierits of an unseen speaker in contemporary lit lass. 4 In a scene from Saroyan’s Coming Through the Rye Jo-Ann Paro lectures Jeff Martini. 3 Junior students Loreen Ayotte, Mary Lynn Haley, and Jeff Bernardi labor at written expression. In addition to Honors and Advanced Placement English, electives were offered to all seniors this year. Course offerings included Shakespearean Drama — Contemporary Lit; American and British Novels — Poetry; and Contemporary Lit — Language. Sophomore Honors classes began a study of Humanities. Two journalism classes composed mostly of sophomores train students for work on the Chronicle. In the coming year electives will be available to juniors also.

A three year art course is available which includes such techniques as silk screening, pastels, water color, and oils. Sr. Eleanor Gahan introduces students to wire and paper sculpture, ceramics, and all forms of creative art. The art department serves by producing posters, banners, and scenery for activities. CHS offers two courses in technical drawing. A sequential course starts with basics, continues with sheet metal work and pattern development, and concludes with fundamentals of engineering. A second course is given with basic technical drawing for juniors, who follow with advanced work in engineering graphics using a college text in senior year. 24 Practical, fine arts help develop 1 Art II student, Marthe Hess adds color to a still life picture. 2 Working on the Kennedy Memorial mosaic, Gail Bishop tediously fits a small piece of tile into the overall pattern. 3 In basic technical drawing, Richard Leonard sketches a three-view orthographic projection. 4 Senior Paul Groomes works out a problem in fundamentals of engi- neering.
