The heart breaker of the year saw Cathedral defeated on its home-coming day by the Regis Reds. The final score Regis 6, Cathedral O. Despite injuries throughout the season, Cathedral earned third place in the final standings. Bernard Deidel, left half on the Jay eleven, earned recognition on the l943 All-Parochial football team. Sfmw BOXING Cathedral Boxers took four champion- ships in the first Parochial League Boxing Tourney. A large and enthusiastic crowd SGW Arthur lrlando, Cathedral, take the feature bout of the l8 championships after Q Sfir. ring tussle with Bill Secord of Holy Family in the Class A l25-pound contest. Much credit for the successful tourney goes to Coach R. C. Sarge MacKenzie of Cathedral, who assisted not only his boys but all boys entering the contest. ln ac- cordance with Parochial League require- ments, boxing letters will be presented to the winners later this spring. In the season opener the favored team of the league, St. Francis took the game with the score of 27-18 playing an a new court, the West High gym. Playing aggressive ball,Cathedral de- feated a powerful St. Joseph's team 23-13. A hard fought battle which could have ended either way, gave C.H.S. its second Parochial defeat at the hands of Holy Family. Playing their last varsity game, members of the first team defeated Annun- ciation 26-l4. With the loss of Bernard Deidel and other senior players, the Blue- iays lost two league games to the Mullen Home Mustangs and the Regis Reds.
