In the 3rd period Cathedral fumbled and 0'N. recovered for a St. Mary's touchdown. Soon afterwards,Kryger scooted around the right end from 22 yds. out for our lone T.D. Tom Rice, Soph. end, and Ted O'Donnell led the Bluebirds on defense while Kryger took over the running chores for the birds. FREMDNT For most of the nextweek Assistant Coach Aldrich ran the birds on de- fense and offense in preparation for the Fremont game. The birds were ready to roll over almost every one at the beginning of the game scoring at the first quarter. Kryger went over for the 5 pointer. St. Pat's Jack Stevens sparked the Fremont hmm in the final half and the green clad warriors went on to win lh-6. The B uebirds couldn't get moving on the offense. Eryger hit Charlie Ferris with a pass to net the Birds lone tally. Chester ' After two previous defeats, Hermie Rohrigs seotet was about due for a win. However, these hopes were to be shattered by Chester, the State Six+Man-King. Although the Cathedral lads knew they were underdogs, they showed plenty of pep and fire as the Champs on the Chester field. The game on the Chester field was in honor of STEPHEN EPPLER the founder of six-man football, and theBulldogs made a night of it leading at the half time 26-O. In the 2nd half Cathedral's only bright spot was the defensive playing of Burns andFerris Neal and Koberstein. NORFOLK Sacred Heart was next forthe Birds Both teams had tasted defeat neither having won a game in h starts. Some- one had to go home defeated, and the Birds made up their mind we'd win. The Birds rolled up a score of 25-0 by halftime on the running of John Steinauer and Kryger and having amp ple blocking by Trueblood and Kobas stein. It took the boys in blue 6 plays after receiving the opening kickoff. we won 32-6, our only win of the season. P I8 SEWARD The week following their triumph over Norfolk, our squad traveled to Seward to play Concordia-always a tough foe for the Cathedral Teams. This year they were a little too tough. Though leading by only two touchdowns by half-time the Bullpups of Seward came back in the final half and trounced the Cathedral teanah245 Before halftime the teams were about on even terms. It was the same old story-the Birds just couldn't get their steam up. Gathedral's only score came as a result of a SO yard march down to the l6,and from there Kryger scampered for the T.D. True- blcod made the extra point. DWIGHT Cathedral took the opening kickoff and marched down the field, Eryger going over from 10 yd.out.Trueblood converted, score 8-O. Dwight picked up three quick T.D.'s while Cathed- ral garnered only one. Dwight led 18-lh at the half-time.Dwight pick- ed off a Cathedral pass and went no yds for the final touchdown. John Steinauer took a punt and went 60 yds for Cathedra1's final touch- down Dwight winning 25-22. TALMADGE Wayne Reeves, Soph. reserve pounr- ed on a Talmadge fumble in the find 2 minutes of the game to set up the first T.D. for the scrappy Capitol City lads. Kryger took the ball on a reserve play and hit paydirt.True- blood drop kicked for the extra pt. making the score read 8-O Cathedral. Talmadge was not to be denied for thqrstarted to work and the result was a T.D., the score then read 8-6 Cath. Kryger took the kickoff and ran it back h9 yds. and a T.D,still putting the Bluebirds ahead lh-6Zhe The boys from T. got 2 T.D. Again Kryger and Steinauer carried the of- fensive and Ferris, Burns and Reewf handled the defensive. Final score 28-21, Talmadge. cmmm Famus t W Charlie was the big man of the Blue season, weighing in bird team this about 196 lbs. Charlie played cen- ter on offense fense, doing a positions. Catholic Action most commonly de- fined as the participation of laity in the apostolate of the hierarchy is the special vocation of the laity to assist their bishop in his Hercu- lean responsibility to teach all nations and convert the world to Christ. During this Holy Year, 1950, Our Holy Father has asked the faithful to mobilize a world-wide crusade a- gainst the attacks leveled against the Church. Our Bishop has pursued indefatigably the awakening of the souls entrusted top his care to their duty as soldiers of Christ to take an active part in the LayApostolate. At school Confraternity meetings opportunities have been given tore- port and participate in the mam' discussions on pertinent religious questions.
