We now leave the halls of learning at Cathedral High, stepping out into a new life - into horizons unknown and unlim¬ ited. The Cathedral graduates, 1944, are soon to participate in the enormous task of liberating and reconstructing the war- torn world. It has ever been the aim of the men be¬ hind Cathedral to build men of sound mind, body, and character. Our President, Monsignor Joseph M. Mueller, has left no doubt in our minds if his success in this category. From our first day at Cathedral, he has striven to provide every facility toward the betterment of our education. So we, the graduates of 1944 extend to our President, Monsignor Mueller, our most sincere thanks for the utmost in co¬ operation toward our ultimate end fighting Crusaders — working Americans fighting and working to make the world a better place in which to live, and prepar¬ ing for our one goal -our eventual union with our Maker. Right Reverend Monsignor Joseph M Mueller After our first year at Cathedral High under the direction of Brother Wilfrid Moran, Brother Urban Fleege, S.M., Ph. D., returned to Cathedral High to assume duties as principal. Strict discipline prevailed at Cathedral under Brother Urban’s tenure, in his effort to train Cathedral High students to the ut¬ most in every trait, to build future Ameri¬ can ciizens of sound mind and character. Then, in December, 1941, came the grim menace of war, so Brother Urban immedi¬ ately set about to install courses and other facilities which would be as beneficial as possible to the future service men of Ca¬ thedral — those valiant men who were to safeguard the future of their country. And now, in one of the major steps of life, graduating from high school into ho¬ rizons unlimited and unknown, we, the seniors of ' 44, realize that Brother UThan Fleege, was eventually to fulfill his mission — that of making Cathedral High an edu¬ cational organization governed by men, for men! Brother Urban Fleege, S.M., Ph. D. Page Five
