Foreword We, the Staff of 1944, have the honor of presenting to you, this, the Thirteenth Volume of the Cathedral Annual, “The Crusader The designation, “ Crusader ” has been a term carried through four years of school. This title has been given the studeyit publication and all our athletic teams. » THOMAS BIGHAUS ANTHONY ZAGARSKI RUE McNAY DEDICATION As the time comes for the class of “44 to receive their diplomas we feel the absence of three members, an absence more acute with the gathering of old memories. The pictures of Rue McNay, Tony Zagarski and Tom Bighaus do not appear among those of the graduates, yet they have a right to be there. To those three, who through Providence are unable to take their place with us, we dedicate this, our Senior Annual. Tom and Tony met their deaths swimming on a class picnic, one year later Rue too, was drowned. Tom and Tony were our religious leaders as well as being leaders in their respective studies. Rue was outstanding both in the classroom and the athletic field. They went as men should go, not recklessly, but engaged in the development of their growing bodies. They were athletes with us, they were scholars with us, they were growing to be men with us. It is only fitting therefore, that we remember them with this small dedication. May our Blessed Mother remember them and seek their eternal Salvation, as they died in the beautiful month dedicated to her, the month of May. Page Three
