The Junior class of 1944, under the direction of Brother Michael Brangan, was alwavs among the leaders in all the activities of the school year. Class officers for the Juniors were appointed, with Larry Louth taking over the job of class president, Robert Spehn taking up the duties of class secretary, and A1 Stenger becoming class treasurer. Jack Koch served in the capacity of sports chairman, Vin Mueller and Robert Bogner took care of all publicity concerning the class. The spiritual activities were under the direction of Russell Wenzel, Junior Prefect: Robert Bogner, Secretary; Richard Rice. Mission Chairman: Melvin Zipfel. Eucharistic Chairman; and Patrick Griffin, Marian Chairman, assisted the Prefect in handling the numerous activities and duties. In the sports activities the Juniors supplied more than its share of participants. On the gridiron Alfred Bauer, Paul Grandcolas, Melvin Zipfel, Richard Rice, Melvin Poniske, A1 Stenger, Quentin Huber, and Clarence Taylor represented the Juniors The basketball team was strengthened bv Paul Grandcolas, Jack Koch, Larry Louth. James Lehman, A1 Stenger, Joseph Glauber, and Joseph Heumann. Melvin Zipfel, Jack Koch. Larry Louth, Carl Reime, Edward Bretsch, and Bray ' man Schidte represented the Juniors on the baseball diamond. Our athletic teams were urged on to win by our chcerdeadcr, Robert Bogner. Musical talent in the Junior class was displayed bv the memJxrrs of the class in the band. They were: Harold Lorenz, drum major: Patrick Griffin, James Huber, Quentin Huber. Joseph Glauber, and Cletus Andres. Scholastically, the Juniors placed ten on the Honor Holl. These were: A1 Stenger, Russell Wenzel. Robert Bogner. James Braun. Vincent Fellner, Thomas Renner, Cletus Andres, Robert Spehn, George Ballard, and Joseph Henman. Juniors to serve on the school paper staff were: Robert Bogner, Robert Spehn, Vincent Mueller, James Braun, Toscph Glauber, and Russell Wenzel.
