The Central Committee of the Sodality of the Immaculate Conception is corn posed of the Senior sodality officers, of parish representatives and class prefects. These officers are responsible for the planning and supervision of the monthly Sodality meet ings, and other spiritual activities of the school. The Sodality, which has as its motto “Through Mary to Jesus , was started in the year 1932, and is directly affiliated with the Sodality at Rome. This year ' s Sodality witnessed considerable changes in the line-up of officers. For the first semester, John Battaglia was Prefect; Cornelius Roth, Marian Chairman; John Fellner, Eucharistic Chairman; Richard Smith, Catholic Action Chairman; Aifred Stingl, Mission Chairman, and Bernard Hoffman, Secretary. The various class Prefects were: Russell Wenzel, Juniors; Frank Donovan, Sophomore A ; William Bauer, Sophomore B ; Robert Kotva, Freshman “A ' ; and Vernon Pacini, Freshman “B These officers always encouraged discussion from the floor, for they wanted the student body to feel that they had something to say in regards to what was done in the Sodality. Heated debates occurred on several occasions, which added considerable interest to the meetings. At the end of the first semester new officers were elected. John Busson garnered the position of Prefect; Bernard Hoffman was chosen Marian Chairman; Herman Pacini, Eucharistic Chairman; Anthony Cordie, Catholic Action Chairman; John Conrath, Mission Chairman; and Melvin Roth, Secretary. The new arrangement proved quite satisfactory, holding its first meeting on Thursday, February 10. The rest of the classes also elected new class officers. The new class Prefects were: Lorrain Braun. Sophomore A ; John Biekert, Sophomore B ; Kenneth Faust, Freshman B ; and Robert Fritz, Freshman A Russell Wenzell remained as Junior Prefect. This smoothly functioning machine was temporarily slowed down when Prefect John Busson resigned, due to curricular difficulties. The Senior class then held an election, at which time Edward Hotz was appointed to succeed Busson. Under Hotz ' s capable direction the Sodality finished out the year. Among this year ' s outstanding events was the reception of the new candidates into the Sodality on Dec. 9, with Monsignor Joseph Mueller officiating. Other activities included the threc ' day Triduum of Masses and Communions, on December 6, 7 and 8, for the Pope. This was the Sodality ' s Christmas present to His Excellency. The Living Rosary was again put into operation during the month of October. Everything possible was done by the Sodality to encourage the frequent reception of Holy Com ' munion by the students during the course of the year. v 1 ■ v . Page Fourteen p i
