These little ladies, generally titled freshmen, are distinguished by pecul- iar characteristics-a greenish look, an overwhelming curiosity, and a blank and brainless stare. The frosh are truly in a rather doubtful daze about this whole complicated high-school life. As they grow into sophomores, all thff is replaced by a vastly superior feeling and an overabundant school spirit. Sophs know C. H. S. inside out, and are just bursting to be on top in everything. Ripening into juniors, the enthusiasm suddenly dies down and a sophis- tication more becoming to veterans of proms, teas, and informal dances is assumed. As senior year looms high, a happy mixture of all three is reached, and new dignity is shouldered, along with graver responsibilities and third floor privileges. Yes, this is Cathedral! Basically, all six hundred are as alike as the uni- form they wear, but from there onthe resemblance stops. It takes all varieties to make a well-balanced school, and this happy blending is just what makes .J .t iii f V.. '21 S 4 ,Q .i ,ff-41:23-rib 2 ' f S25 1, c. Outside cares and thoughts are banished from minds as students settle down to serious study. Religion, though dwelling in every nook and corner of C. H. S., is taught in fact and theory for four years. We Cathedralites learn the backbone of our faith, and are prepared to defend it, if need be, with our last remaining strength. Each year English l, II, lll, or IV leads us into a magic new world, broadening our view and enlarging our horizons. The mysterious, bewildering language of shorthand, bookkeeping, and commercial law is now just as plain, as day to our NOT-QUITE private secretaries. The long-suffering classical academics have laid Virgil to his final rest, mastered the x's and y's of Algebra, and lighted their last Bunsen burner. Gym class finds us in beloved blues, ready to exercise for that slim and trim look, march smartly to militant music, and play basketball, volleyball, or baseball. With weekly assemblies, we advance to the fore in intellectuality, cul- ture and entertainment, while the club program serves as an outlet for ,numer- ous interests and varied talents. y E As we take our last walk-out from loved classrooms, leaving worn text books, we carry with us minds filled to overflowing, abounding in gratitude fo-r the benefit of a Cathedral 's in kl V 9 A My X' Igzjsls ,... y.'6'. ,?.x t-. a., --4 4, , J, xxx Q u, wx g awk 0 V 19 V '. 5 an 4.54. .q5 K w x '!4 . .. -, t '-f -' U 'X .x.s0 , ,Ls f 5, .
