e Y it f X 1 X. xii :itilli Bro. Robt. Schoffman Fr. Geo. Harris Dan Cusick Mrs. R. W. Bradford No one was terribly surprised by the announcement that Father Edward Heitjan would succeed Fr. Canella as principal. Brother Dupuis became treasurer of the school and Brother Robert Schoff- man and Father George Harris arrived as the only two new Via- torian staff members. Mr. Ron Hull joined his older brother at Griffin, also Mr. Dan Cusick and Mrs. Bradford joined the faculty. Father Canella was now the Provincial Director of all of the schools in which Viatorians Joe Schweska, 66 taught and in the Fall of 1964, he visited Griffin at the head of a team which evaluated the school. While the work of the various de- partments were rated as good, fair and poor, and only one subject area was listed under the last category, call was made for re- ligion teachers trained in the new methods that were emerging as a result of the Second Vatican Council whose impact was begin- ning to be felt in Catholic schools. A new Board of Faculty Members was elected to advise Larry Evoy, 916 , CA.-2 Vietnam Vietnam the principal in academic and dis- cipline matters. Involvement in the Vietnamese war, which spanned the terms of four U.S. Presidents, began to es- culate in January. Once again it would effect the lives of Griffin students. Not a popular military involvement, it would bring pro- testing and dissension among the American people. Some students would serve their country in a spirit of patriotism, others would object. None would be immune to the politics of the war. Mike Maloney, 63 v ,xx u u A it v, Vietnam K-1-A IENG raw F remix vi Sam Zamri, 63 Vietnam X Vietnam Vff-1 Steve Maloney, 67
