Studentfrustration being relieved at lunch break, 1964. l Homecoming . . . the walls were vibrating Father Canella began his last year as principal with Father Ed- ward Heitjan as the assistant principal. Father Deslauriers also began his last of many years as treasurer of the school. His health failed before the year was well underway and Father Leahy be- came acting treasurer. The Via- torian staff remained fairly stable with Father Wally Nowak and Bro. Daebelliehn as new staff members in addition to Mrs. Barnes, Mr. Murawski, Mr. Teater and Mr. Rudin. Fathers Deslauriers, Shaw and Carey all fell victim to illness and missed a good deal of the school year.

The team, which was often led by Tom Lavin as high scorer, took both the City and Capital titles. Mr. Lavin now coaches Griffin's golf team. The baseball team won the State High School Championship. One hundred forty three seniors graduated at the June com- mencement. origin Rong 324 Mr. Robert Hull Mr. Ronald Hull Between them these brothers have given over 40 years to Grif- fn High School. Bob is an assis- tant editorjor the Springfield Journal-Register and has been a part time teacher through most of his 20 plus years of teaching. He has taught World and U.S. His- tory, journalism and English over the years. For a long time he was the moderator ofthe CHIMES. With his rich background in jour- nalism, the school newspaper showed a polish that it has sel- dom had in its many years ofex- istence. Younger brother Ron has just completed 20 years as a member ofthefaculty. Primarily a math teacher through most of his years at Griffn Mr. Hull also teaches chemistry. He was also a modera- tor-for the junior class and there- fore ofthe prom for several years. Both Hull brothers are among the most-faithful of Griffin is teachers, seldom absent and al- ways prepared to give their best to their students.
