Father Arnold Perham, C.S.V. Both Cathedral and Grjfin have enjoyed a reputationjor ex- cellence in the teaching ofscience and mathematics. One very good reasonfor this was the presence of Father Perham who arrived on the scene in 1956 and remained through 1962. A teacher is teacher. Father Perham brought imagina- tion to the classroom and the abil- ity to convey that sense of love for his subject which makes learn- ing excitingfor the student. As moderator ofthe Science Club he encouraged students to stretch their minds and to excel, in the various areas ofscience. As men- tioned earlier, his students made a habit of winning top prizes in science competitions throughout the area and on State levels. In 1962, the Viatorians opened St. Viator High School in Arlington Heights and Father Perham was assigned to teach physics and math in the new school. He re- mains there today, still demand- ing the bestfrom his students and giving them the best ofhimself Fr. Carey Fr. Kicmal Mr. Armstrong Ny' ge I 1 .
