aww The Viatorians had moved into their new residence in the previous February and spent the summer months working to prepare the school for classes in September. With a great deal of apprehension they watched the opening date approach but enough rooms were ready to begin classes on Sep- tember I, 1959. The public was invited to inspect the new facili- ties and many political, educa- tional and church leaders took advantage of the invitation. Twenty-two Viatorians were on the staff as classes began. New- comers included: Frs. George Dempsey, Pierre Vautrin, Leon- ard Stachura and Brother Wayne Dupuis, a future principal of Grif- fin and Brother Harry Wong. Mr. James Morris and Mrs. Foster were the new lay teachers. This was also the year that Mrs. Edith Schultz, long time school secre- tary retired and was replaced by Miss Clara Bretz who would re- main at Griffin for the next twenty-two years. Fr. Joseph Canella introduced the mostaccioli dinner which re- mains a main fund raising event. . ,Vg.- F my QA, K ' ai.-V Lwl lk Miss Clara Bretz-Secy. 6 E Fr. Geo. Dempsey Fr. Leonard Stachura Bro.
