INTRODUCTION This jubilee anniversary yearbook is a tribute to the many faculty, students and individuals, all of whom have made Cathedral and Griffin High School's past 50 years among our fondest of memories. It is the sincere desire of those who participated in the development of this book, that it will serve as a reminder of all that was good about your years at Cathedral or Griffin High School. Plans were made for this yearbook in early 1983 as preparations were getting underway for the celebration of the Golden Anniversary of Cathedral Boys High School and the Silver Anniversary of Griffin High School. The Cathedral! Griffin 50-Yearbook Committee began at once the laborious task of researching all 50 years, contacting alumni, securing photographs, and developing an impressive library of facts, old yearbooks and memories. At last the job is complete. An outstanding effort has been made to identify those highlights that will bring back the fondest memories of the schools' past 50 years. The books design, accuracy and attention to detail is without equal and is, primarily, a result ofthe efforts of Fr. George G. Harris, C.S.V., who researched and then wrote the book's text and biographical sketches and Mr. Jim Kolis, '46, who as- sembled, designed and laid out what follows this introduction. In addition, Fr. Bernard Mulvaney, C.S.V., Archivist for the American Province ofthe Clerics of St. Viator, made available records kept in the archives at Arlington Heights, Illinois. Many others have con- tributed time and material for this book's creation. Their names appear later on page 183. Our hope is that you enjoy reviewing thisjubilee yearbook as much as we enjoyed assembling it.
