This year also saw the choral groups under the direction of Father F. E. Williams and Father Loughran begin to flourish. For the second time the basketball team went to the Sweet Sixteen tournament after winning on the city, regional and sectional levels. The first post-war variety show was hailed bythe local press as excelling its predecessors in all re- spects and praised the work of Brother Drolet, Father Williams and Father Loughran. Brother Drolet returned to Cathedral as the 1945-46 school year opened. He energetically re- sumed his duties as band director and began a feeder band program in the primary schools. One other returned Viatorian, Father Matthew Noonan, formed a staff for the purpose of beginning a yearbook for the school. A con- test was held to find a name for the new publication. Cathe- draloguev was the winning entry for the title. This first yearbook offered a brief history of the school and pictures of all of the graduating classes that had gone before. World War ll had ended, and one of the most interesting as well as touching sections of the book was an Honor Roll listing all Cathedral graduates and students who had served their country so well in the war against the Nazis and Fascists, including those who had given their lives for their country.
