Brother Drolet returned to Cathedral as the 1945-46 school year opened. He energetically re- sumed his duties as band director and began a feeder band program in the primary schools. One other returned Viatorian, Father Matthew Noonan, formed a staff for the purpose of beginning a yearbook for the school. A con- test was held to find a name for the new publication. Cathe- draloguev was the winning entry for the title. This first yearbook offered a brief history of the school and pictures of all of the graduating classes that had gone before. World War ll had ended, and one of the most interesting as well as touching sections of the book was an Honor Roll listing all Cathedral graduates and students who had served their country so well in the war against the Nazis and Fascists, including those who had given their lives for their country. The Viatorian staff had been cut to fourteen and all were des- perately needed in the classrooms While there was a clear need for construction of a new high school, the Bishop decided that the time was not yet right for such an undertaking. Instead, he pur- chased the present school for 541,500 from the school district. Remodeling, which quickly doubled the purchase price. be- gan. The remodeling was de- manded if the school was to maintain its accreditation. Much of the work was done by the staff of the school. 1941-42 Faculty Fr. James Sees Bro. Thomas B. Nolan Bro.
