Fifty years had passed since Cathedral Boys High School had opened its doors. After 73 years in one building, Sacred Heart Academy moved into its beautiful new building. This year saw Mr. Brosamer named as Assistant Principal by Father Erickson. He continued his duties as business manager. New teachers were Mr. Robin Robertson, Mr. Ted John- son joined the foreign language department. Also new were Mr. Jim Albus,-Michael Stumpe, Jeff Alderman, Mrs. Catherine Jensen and Brother Richard Pighini. Spirit Days continued to be a highlight of the Homecoming week at Griffin. Shortened classes, no dress code and pep as- semblies always made this week a pleasant change from the usual school days. Dances were always popular and for a change all three Catholic high schools joined to- gether for a Tri-High Dance in March in Griffin's gym. The yearbook staff looked beyond the closed world of Griffin and re- corded some of the events that were shaping their future. Nine students and two of the faculty toured Europe and had an au- dience with the Pope just weeks before the attempt on his life. This was the year that John Len- non was killed and Griffin stu- dents joined in the silent tribute to his memory held in Washing- ton Park.
