Mr. james Belz As a young man, Mr. Belz lookedforward to a promising career in baseball with the St. Louis Cardinals. The Korean con- flict and a knee injury ended that dream though to this day Mr. Belz works as a scoutfor the St. Louis team. He came to Cathedral in l956 to help solve the problem of the basketball program which hadgfallen on hard times with a nearly winless sea- son. He accomplished this pur- pose with a vengence leading his teams to many City and Capitol Conference titles. He taught so- cial studies and helped coach other sports includingfootball and baseball. For many years he served very effectively as Athletic Directorfor the two schools and for many years also as Dean of Discipline. After more than 30 years at Cathedral and Grifhn one can say that his name is synonymous with that of Griffin. eye 00407 425 HEAD coAcH .f,9oi2QzV7'vqf0vi18j9'v 890,50 Qfpeeooi 53' ,331 T 1 ASSISTANT coAcHEs wg'-bx'vyvq'QoO40v.f:1',3,voQvbQ'0085QQSQOQOOQ O90 459600 goo 55133 L Jim Belz George Fleischli 0 Larry Selinger T v Bill Nonneman T Bill Fleischli T T T Rich Murawski ' Q Bill Lechner ' T 1975-75 Annex Barraza ' Bob Martin T Joe Galassi f ' Dean VanDiver T ' Ron Brian T T ' Simon Cory T Bro.
