For several years Griffin stu- dents had participated inthe musi- cals put on by Sacred Heart Academy. The production for 1967 was Oklahoma and was greeted as one of the best produc- tions ever sponsored by the schools. The Band visited New York City, then traveled to Montreal to appear at the World's Fair. Father Nowak had moderated the Gavel Club for several years and now a Second Club was begun to handle the number of students who were interested in the fine art of public speaking. In addition a Debate Club was begun this year under the direc- tion of Father Warlop. This year also saw the death of Father Sees who had been the second principal of Cathedral and who had resided with the Via- torian faculty for some years fol- lowing a severe stroke. He was a familiar sight in the halls of Grif- fin, often filling in for an absent teacher. Word also came of the death of Father Shaw. He had taught English at Griffin from 1959-l966. He had also served as Athletic Director while at Griffin. One hundred sixty six seniors received their diplomas at the June commencement ceremonies. One of the more active cheering sections.

William Haesaert were the new teachers joining the staff as the 1967-68 school year got underway. The various school clubs were so active that a school calendar was inaugurated to coordinate meetings since so many students Tag day sales funded trip to Washington, D. C belonged to several organizations. Fund raising had also become an important part of keeping Griffin open. In the Fall there was now an annual chocolate selling drive and the Mostaccioli Dinner con- tinued to grow and was the major fund raising effort of the parents and student body. Bro. Wm.
