On the first Friday of October, the Student Body was consecrated to the Sacred Heart of jesus. Student leaders and representatives from St. joseph's Grammar School join Monsignor Rice in the annual ceremony which is arranged by the Legion. Legionaires Are Dedicated to the Sacred Heart. The object of the Legion of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary is to honor the Hearts of Jesus and Mary, and to make this devo- tion known to others by means of night adoration, Holy Hour, fre- quent reception of Holy Commu- nion and recitation of the rosary. Activities this year included the sale of religious Christmas Cards, a retreat in Descanso on January 27-29, and the reception of new members, Cecily Quinn, Mary Beth Dressor, and Lorraine Foster on February 10. Sodality Lives Motto To Jesus Through Mary The Sodality of Our Lady is an organization which aims to lead its members to personal sanctifi- cation through devotion to Mary. Sodalists are very active in the performance of spiritual and cor- poral works of mercy. The Sodal- ity-sponsored Know Your Saints program on Halloween awakens student interest in the lives of the saints. Sodalists also volunteer to work at Guadalupe Clinic once a week and to teach catechism in their respective parishes. Two im- portant sodality projects are: tak- ing part in the annual congress at U.S.D. and helping in the organi- zation of retreats for public school students throughout the diocese. Cathedral was particularly hon- ored this year by having Maria Theodore chosen as prefect of the Diocesan Sodality Council.
