June 9, 1964 graduates, An examination of the last six issues of UTHE ANNUALH provides more than an interesting way of reminiscing. Comparing your pictures from the time they first appeared in NTHE ANNUALH up to now, one has, as it were, a moving picture of what St. Luke meant when he described the teen-age years wisdom and age to your applied spanned trouble and far camera, of Mary's Son in these words, HAnd Jesus advanced in and grace before God and men. We of Bishop the faculty of Cathedral take pleasure in presenting you as young men to whom the same description can be aptly You have, of course, advanced in age -- the past six years have the interval from childhood to manhood. The camera's eye had no in recording that development. The other aspects of your growth, however, have been more subtl more important -- your advancement in wisdom and in grace. No no scientific measuring device, however sophisticated, can assay those qualities. Yet, they are assuredly there in generous measure. Wisdom is more than mere learning. Your studies at Cathedral have surely taught you many facts, but, more than that, you have been taught to put these facts into perspective, to develop a proper sense of values, to sift and to distinguish, to weigh and to judge. So, too, is grace above mere goodness. Of all the elements th go to make up the worthy aspirant for the priesthood, grace occupies the pre-eminent position. For it is by grace alone that these earthen vesse are able to be fashioned into the image of God's own Son, It is our hope and prayer that this likeness to Christ, which have endeavored to develop here at Cathedral, will never cease to grow within you.
