Twenty happy years of my life were spent teaching at Cathedral College. I and other teachers have seen boys come to school with high ideals. Its jubilee observance should fittingly evoke the prayers of all of us in fer vent gratitude to Almighty God and in loving tribute to Mary Im aculate, the Queen and Pat- roness of the College. A good school not only dispenses knowledge, it shapes minds, it fosters ideals, it engenders loyalties, it develops lasting friendships. A preparatory seminary does all these things. And beyond that it reaches out to the young and gen- srous soul to attract him to Christ and to bind him steadfastly to Christ for life by the ties of allegiance and devotion. The life of Cathedral has been shared by many who will be reading the pages of this Annual. It has been a glorious privilege to be part of it, for it has been a work of divine grace. It is a wondrous thing to behold now what the grace of God has accomplished in these five decades with young minds and hearts, weak in their fallen nature, but ennobled by the touch of the Spirit of God. The college shines today in the reflected glory of the fine priests and laymen who are its sons. we count it a great personal blessing to have been associated so closely with them.
