The wide scope of present day communica- tion media has enveloped the world in a veil of musical beauty. An appreciation of this art is essential to the refinement of character and spirit. Members of the society are rewarded by the investigation of the varied forms of music. The subject is traced from primitive song through the classical pieces to the dawn of modern folk sing- ing. The representation of Mary engraved on our cover has been placed there as a token of our love for her as the Mother of Priests, and her love for us as her faithful sons. Again and again, the theme of to jesus through Mary echoes within these pages. This 1964 edition is not meant to be the work of one staff, or of one class. It has been written, compiled and illustrated by the unselfish generosity and loyalty of every member of the student body and faculty, past and present. It has been observed that in a special manner the Annual is the one truly representative publication of Cathedral. It is the only production in which every single member of Cathe- dral's growing body has an opportunity to participate.
