Reich- ert. Created expressly for the men of the college department, its purpose was to stimulate interest in literature of all types. In 1923, Third and Fourth years formed their own group, the Aquinas Liter- ary Society, which also held debates. The present St. Thomas More Society was formed in October 1935 by Father Charles R. Mulrooney. He stated its pur- pose as: . . . dedicated to the inculcation and development of a real sense of literary appreciation and enjoyment among the members of a society Fittingly under the patronage of St. Thomas More, Saint and Scholar. . . li .
