The Student Committee Operating in connection with the high school department alone, the Student Committee has obtained greater support and cooperation than was evidenced in past years from the student body. The purpose of the Committee is to assist the Dean of Students in maintain- ing order in the high school, to remind fellow students of their responsibilities, and to present to the faculty the helpful suggestions and constructive opinions of the student body.

l 4 if YT7 The Student Council The establishment of the Student Council in the College department in 1936 marked an innovation in the familiar type of Student Government at Cathedral. l Previously, the Student Committee, Whose officers were chosen from the senior class, directed and supervised the community exercises both of the College , l and High School Departments. The Council is composed of the class officers of the College whose purpose is to provide representative leadership for the student body, to assist the administra- tion in the maintenance of good order and to provide an opportunity for student initiative in achieving the ideals of college life. In 1923, Third and Fourth years formed their own group, the Aquinas Liter- ary Society, which also held debates. The present St. Thomas More Society was formed in October 1935 by Father Charles R.
