THE CVTI BOOKSTORE The bookstore at CVTI has come a long way. It started out very small at a different location where you had to ask a clerk at a window to get what you needed. It is now in what used to be the student center. Before the present attendant, Cathy Leitch was Katherine Yount who had served three years. Mr. Thomas Jame- son, Business Manager of CVTI, is in charge of the bookstore. In the bookstore, you will find all the required books for both day and night-time students. There are extras that are of interest to students such as paperback books, sweaters, posters, albums, tapes, and equipment students may need to buy. Purchasing a decorative poster from the attendant (top) is only one of the minor happenings in the bookstore. Kathy Jensen deft) discovers new techniques in shorthand and Norma Seagle (below) locates a source for her technical research paper. 26 FEATURES

Mr. George Brown, who retired from CVTI after 11 years and 5 months of faithful service, receives a certificate and a staff gift from President Robert E. Paap at an appreciation dinner on October 29, 1971. The Furniture Technology Building was a feature from its concep- tion. Containing classes in furniture production, sewing, and uphol- stering, this building is one of the finest in North Carolina. FEATURES 25

A good time was enjoyed by all who attended the Christ- mas Dance as shown by Mike Miller and date, (left) Dale Lutz and date, and Mr. James Yoder and wife. CVTI Christmas Dance Through the supreme efforts of the Student Government Association, CVTI held a very successful 1971 Christmas Dance, December 19, at the Hickory Na- tional Guard Armory. Music was pro- vided by THE PARTLY CLOUDY, a band from Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The dance was open to all full-time stu- dents of CVTI and one guest. At inter- mission, as in years past, Mr. and Miss Merry Christmas were crowned. FEATURES 27
