CATYATECHI Catawba Valley Technical Institute Newton, North Carolina ADMINISTRATION CLASSES . y, i ■- v.; J ACTIVITIES of our year at Catawba Valley Technical Institute Miss Huffman, advisor, and Richard Lutz and Jim Fisher, co-editors, listen intently as an annual staff member makes a suggestion during the first meeting of the year. 3 Lunch hours turn into physical education periods as students gather to enjoy the crisp fall air. 4 Fall—that elusive, wistful, melancholy time— comes to CVTI. It comes, however, with a flurry of activity. Preparations are made for the coming year. Department heads hurry to plan curriculums. The book store is stocked with materials the coming students will need. Out-of-town students make arrangements for accommodations. And all students—somewhat uncertain of what lies ahead--register, and hope for the best. 5 Don't be silly, Mary Gail—I AL- WAYS wear a tulip in my bouton- niere!” Mr. Rudisiil proved to be the life of the annual staff party. Waiting for the fate of a toss-up, team members stand poised and tense as the ball goes into the air. 6 Winter brings an increase in the tempo at CVTI. Students, now thoroughly oriented to the procedures of their new school, adapt them- selves to their routines. Classes intensify as students reach to grasp the principles put be- fore them. Moments are snatched between classes for conversation with fellow students. Lunch hours are spent by many in make-up work, extra research, and practice. And, as always, anticipation of holidays make the work a little easier. 7 • • i Spring brings music to the Cow Palace ! immmii In the Spring rain fails to dampen sprits as students intersperse weekends at the beach with exams. A young man's fancy turns to the fairer sex. Spring brings life to C. V. T. I. Summer is many things to the students at CVTI. To some, it is merely a break between two years of study. To others, it is a chance to supplement their regular courses by attend- ing summer school. To others, of course, it is graduation--a certificate or associate de- gree signifying the culmination of one or two years of intense, enriching study. As the stu- dents walk across the stage at the P. E. Monroe Auditorium, each knows that his next step is into the world for which he has prepared. Summer at CVTI is both a beginning and an ending. n Administrative Staff Marcus B. Simpson, Director Technical and Vocational Programs Thomas Jameson, Director Extension Programs Bruce B.
