A SENIOR DIARY Freshman Year' September 18, 1949-Dear Diary, Want it be fun to keep a record of our High School Life? School opened today, we are about the freshest Freshman class that ever was. We have three teachers in all this year, Mr. Jones, Mrs. Musgrove, and Mr. Tolliver. Several of us are going to play basketball. April, 1950, Ten of us are thrilled by being invited to be waiters and waitresses at the Junior- Senior Banquet. It was more fun than a barrel of monkeys—and good food too! Sophomore Year September 18, 1950-Dear Diary, This year we found two of our crew missing. Mildred Setzer decided it was better to run double than single. David, Beulah, and Evelyn joined the Beta Club. We have seven members from our class on the basketball team. Junior Year September 27, 1951-Dear Diary, Mr. Brown replaced Mr. Kiser as teacher and basketball coach. November 22, Excited?? Well, I guess I Our class rings camel I They are lovely. We had a wonderful time. March 28, 1952, Bill and I were asked to attend Career Day held at Balls Creek, as junior rep- resentatives. We sold candy to help raise money for the Junior-Senior Banquet. We also gave a supper in the lunchroom and with this money we gave a very nice banquet, or at least we thought so. April 9, After much planning and working, we were able to put on the biggest event of our High School career. The Junior-Senior Banquet. Thiswasthe first banquet ever held away from Catawba. It was given at Mackie Motel Dining Room. About fifty-three members of our Junior-Senior class, faculty, school board, and local ministers were present. The speaker of the evening was Rev. A.G. Lackey, a former Methodist pastor here. His wife, who taught our class for three years, was also present. We lost another member this year, Joe Jorden moved with his family to Virginia. Senior Year August 25, 1952-Dear Diary, The long looked for time has arrived and we have become seniors at last I I wonder if we feel very differently? We look about the same.
