Four years ago, in the summer of 1947, twenty-one carefree boys and girls entered the portals of Catawba High School. We were just green” Freshmen, and it took us a little time to settle down to serious work, but we finally managed, with the help of the teachers. In 194 there were just seventeen of our original group, but we were joined by two new class- mates, Royd Bowman and Hazel Eller, making a total of nineteen Sophomores. In 1949, we started out as a group of twelve Juniors, but we lost two classmates, and that left ten of us to brave the trials and tribulations of all Juniors. We were thrilled when we re- ceived our class rings on November 7, 1949, and could talk of nothing else for almost a week. We gave the Junior-Senior Banquet on April 21, 1950, carrying out the Dutch theme. In 1950, we started our last and most important year of High School with ten dignified Seniors. In 1950, we started our last and most important year of High School with ten dignified Seniors. Our coach and teacher, Mr. Thad Jones, left us, and Mr. B.L. Kiser took his place. We are living up to our motto, Forward ever, Backward never,” and realizing the fulfillment of the 1950 Seniors’ motto, He who findeth knowledge, findeth life”. Martha Myers, Historian MR.FRANK BOOTH - - - Over two dozen graduates of our school gratefully remember his gift at commencement - - - A Bible, with students’ name in gold, and class date. Nearly every student in our school has at some time or other been the recipient of some gift by our esteemed neighbor and friend, and we know we have no better friend than Mr. Booth. Many, many thanks for your kind rememberances all along the way.
