' ba alawva amwiu For every play in the contemporary theatre we devise a particular set that is entirely new and is created especially to fit the action and to complement the characters. To do this the scenic designer must plan the stage to meet every want or need of the actors. The stage must also conform to the mood of the play so that it will reveal immediately as much as possihle of the essential nature of the action. Perhaps the most important preoccupation of the artist is to devise a set within which the natural grouping of the actors at every moment will arrange itself in conformity with the laws of pictorial composition. The combination of these three elements of setting has given rise to the background for the production Our Campus Life.
