The Junior Class in college holds, in a special sense, a very enviable position. In automobile language, the Freshmen have to go on low, the Sophomore, on seco nd, but the Juniors have the grand and glorious feeling of shifting to high. They now have good reasons for believing that they will get there. Sincerest congratulations to every member of Catawba ' s Class of 1937 — from their friend, My congratulations to the Swas- tika staff and the Junior Class for the very excellent work that they have done in editing the annual. They have worked hard, and deserve much praise for their efforts. My wish for them is con- tinued success in all their future undertaking ' s, and that they may become loyal supporters of their Alma Mater on graduation. L ho ayl a Z Z-l l r Twentv-one

PRESIDENT ' S MESSAGE Dear Catawba Students: I wish to coniplinient the editors of the Swastika upon the selection of the theme for this issue: Bomnanee, the spirit of adventure, of daring, of willingness to risk in order to achieve, without fear of the new or the uiu tried. This is the spirit which sustained the morale of America in the pioneer ages, and it motivates young people today just as it did in the earlier days. Set before yourself high ideals; align yourselves on the side of the Right in every challenge that comes; meet the problems of life with a confidence born of a pure heart and the -willingness to forget self in every noble en deavor; then, success will be yours. Back at the old school there are a host of friends -who will rejoice with you in every worthwhile endeavor. With the very best wishes, Sincerely yours, . v th -4U ' K -C v x i .- - . President.
