Catawba Academy was represented well by its first girls basketball team. The team, though in- experienced was impressive in their enthusiasm and desire. Much improvement was noted, and victories will most surely be coming to this team in the near future. CAMMIE MARSHALL LONA GILMORE JULIE BRICE MARIAN LANGSTON ANNE BARNES BEACHY COBB LEE WILLIAMS L CA ROL NA SH NORMAN LESLIE FLINT SOCCER Catawba Academy is responsible for bringing the highly competitive sport of soccer to Rock Hill where, during the 1968 season, the team gained much recognition and support from the students and patrons of the Academy. The Academy is looking forward to what promises to be continued success in competition with other independent schools in the state. BOYS BASKETBALL Catawba Academy competed on a junior-varsity level in the South Carolina Independent School Athletic Association. Thirteen boys from grades 5-8 were included on the team which compiled a record of five wins and one loss. After a successful season the Academy looks with great expecta- tion to the future. Catawba Academy participated in Gra-Y football during its first year in operation and showed promise for the future. The season began with a 14-0 loss to Northside and as the season progressed and as the team gained experience, it became evident that they would realize victory. In the last game of the season, our team faced Northside again and defeated them 6-0. Catawba Academy can be justly proud of these fine young men and their efforts. -, gf-'f'f7 '- Jia, ,Q . 1 ' lv '--:-,fw.? - 'f Q4 ffm .f 9 4 'f.- Y N J- - A , Q - N. ., . , I , N , , , .M -A- -, .
