A permanent aca- demic record of each student is kept. Mrs. Betty Warner is the assistant regis- trarg Mrs. Helen Hack, Mrs. Winnifred Sims, and Mrs. Gene Merchant also work in this office. An accurate and careful attendance record of Catalinals students is kept by Miss Helen Clark and her assistants, Mrs. Helen Markes, and Mrs. Meta Moore. This job is particularly important because the school district receives money from the State Department of Education based on student attendance. Looking over the schedule and the appointments for the Besides the usual work done in an office, the student announcements along with the routing of discipline cases were handled by Mrs. Nellie Groenert and Mrs. Mary Dyer this past year. They also worked with the coaches on inter- scholastic n eligibility. Parents' permission, a physical exam- ination, and a birth certificate were turned into the dean's oliice by every boy and girl going out for interscholastic sports. Organizations, Events Directed By BIOWH Mrs. Myrtle Brown, previous to being the dean of girls at Catalina, taught his- tory in junior high school and was a counselor at Tucson High School. She is in charge of student loanstand welfare, class organizations and activities. She helps many girls with their various problems during the school year. Mrs. Brown has charge of the school calendar, and all activities must have her approval before they can go into effect. All trans- portation for athletic teams, the band, and out-of-town games is handled by Dean Brown. In order to help girls with their various problems, she works closely with counselors, administration, and parents. She supervises school social functions, and sponsors Girls League and Junior Red Cross. Dean Egbert Aids Discipline Problems Handling both the jobs of dean of boys and assistant principal, Mr. Henry Egbert is kept busy at all times. As assistant principal for pupil activities, Mr. Egbert schedules and makes arrangements for all athletic events. Indirect supervision of clubs and extra- curricular activities are also a part of his job. Throughout the year, boys with disciplinary problems are given help by Dean Egbert. A graduate of Tucson High School and the University of Arizona, Mr. Egbert devoted live years to the armed services. After the war, he was a physical educa- tion teacher and football coach at Tucson High. Later, he became dean of boys at T. H. S. C. Quenelle Guides Records, Counseling Conrad Quenelle, assistant principal in charge of pupil personnel and records, heads the attendance ollice, the counseling staff, and the office of its registrar. Under his guidance the attendance office keeps an accurate record of the student attendance at Catalina. In the counselor's ohice all student records are kept. Under his direction, Catalina's seven counselors provide educational, vocation- al, and personal counseling. I Mgr. Quenelle joined the Tucson school district fourteen years ago. We -wr The welfare of the students is the basic concern of Catalinals seven counselors. Working with the teachers, parents, prin- cipal, and the administration, they help the counselees reach the potential needed to become good citizens. Each counselor has approximately 340 counselees. The entire counseling staff is directed by Mr. Conrad Quenelle.
